Each glass bead is handmade by me and therefore truly one-of-a-kind creations!
Not sure what you would do with
just a bead if you aren't a jewelry/beading nut? No problem! You can request at the time of purchase to have the
bead made into:
-
strung on a cord or chain,
-
a zipper pull to jazz up any
zipper. Decorate your coat, purse, back pack, etc.
-
a decorative window display
strung on fishing line
-
a decorative display mounted on a plant stick for
adorning house plants
If none of those options sound good, I'm open to suggestions
and will be glad to customize as desired! I also accept custom bead orders.

How lampwork beads are made
|
The picture to the right shows me at my torch making
a bead. Glass rods, in a variety of different colors, are melted using a torch. Constantly working with/against
gravity, the glass is wrapped around a steel rod (mandrel) then shaped using the heat of the flame and various other
tools. After the bead is formed, it is slowly cooled in a kiln to bring it's temperature down from about 1000 degrees
to 700. This slow cooling process is known as annealing and is designed to take the moleculer stress out of the bead
to give it strength and durability.
